Attendants

National and International Judges wishing to improve their knowledge of the rules and protest committee procedures. This seminar will meet ISAF Regulation 31.11.1 (a) - requirements for first appointment or re-appointment 31.11.2 of International Judge status.

Zagreb International (Pleso) - 25 km from the venue well connected to all major cities in Europe.

Fee

Fee of 230.00 EUR, payable to Croatian Sailing Federation, includes:

  • ISAF Judge's manual and tuition,
  • Accommodation for three nights in single small non-smoking room at hotel "Laguna", breakfast, light lunch (sandwich or similar) and one formal dinner on Saturday evening, WiFi at hotel, car-parking.

Organiser can assist arrangement of accommodation for any accompanying persons on request, as well other needs like transportation in the area or visits to particular places.

Prerequisites for Attending an International Judges Seminar

A candidate for an International Judges Seminar will:

Experience

  • Be an experienced racing sailor.
  • Be a certified national judge or have successfully completed an ISAF International Judges Clinic.
  • Have extensive protest committee experience at local and national levels.
  • Have been the chairperson of protest committees.

Knowledge

Abilities

  • Be able to converse, read and write in English.
  • Given a description and diagram of a situation, be able to write a protest decision, using the language of the racing rules.
  • Be able to conduct a protest hearing, collect evidence, find facts, apply rules to facts and reach a reasoned decision.
  • Given the facts found in a protest hearing, be able to prepare a diagram of the incident.
  • Be able to review and comment constructively on the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.

Additional qualifications

(optional, but preferable)
  • Have on-the-water experience judging rule 42.
  • Have served on an International Jury.

Arrival to Zagreb

By air

Zagreb Airport "Pleso" is situated 20km from city centre and well connected to all major European hubs.

For the airlines operating to Zagreb see its website www.zagreb-airport.hr. From the airport to the city centre and the venue you can take a taxi just in front of arrivals terminal which will cost approximately 20 to 25 EUR one way.

There is shuttle bus operating each half hour from the airport to Zagreb main bus station and back starting in front arrival gate. It costs approx 4 EUR one way. More information here: www.plesoprijevoz.hr

By car

From Hungary and Varaždin

  • motorway E 65, E 71 - A4 - exit "ZAGREB ISTOK"
  • Follow the signs to Zagreb centre and hotel Laguna

From Austria and Slovenia

  • Graz, Maribor, Krapina: motorway E 59 - A2 - follow the sign "ZAGREB ZAPAD"
  • when you exit you will join the motorway Ljubljanska and Zagrebacka Avenue
  • Follow the signs to Zagreb centre and hotel Laguna

From Italy and Slovenia

  • Ljubljana - you will join the motorway Ljubljanska and Zagrebacka Avenue
  • Follow the signs to Zagreb centre and hotel Laguna

From Split, Rijeka, Karlovac

  • motorway E 71, E 65 - A1 - drive along Jadranska Avenue - Savska Cesta Street
  • Follow the signs to Zagreb centre and hotel Laguna

From Sarajevo, Slavonski Brod

  • motorway E 70 - A3 - exit "ZAGREB ISTOK", take Slavonska Avenue
  • Follow the signs to Zagreb centre and hotel Laguna

By bus

Hotel Laguna is only 10 minutes away by taxi, direction west, from the Main Bus Station (AUTOBUSNI KOLODVOR).

You can also take tram number 2 or 6 (direction Črnomerec) and to take off on the third tram stop.
Then take tram number 9 (direction Ljubljanica) and to take off on the fourth tram stop.

Hotel is near the tram stop.

By train

Zagreb is connected to other European cities by trains, arriving to Zagreb main railway station.

Hotel Laguna is only 15 minutes on foot, direction west, from the Main Train Station (GLAVNI KOLODVOR). Also you can take tram number 9 (direction Ljubljanica) and to take off on the fourth tram stop.
